I told myself when I bought my BMW that I would get personalized liscense plates. At first I thought of 'LJSTFD'. This would stand for 'Left JuSTiFeD'. Meaning, the left part of my brain helped to justify the purchase (artistic side). Then after a conversation in my car with my brother I decided on 'MESSAGE'. Meaning, the message was that I owned it and YOU didn't. Or 'did you get the message as I passed you?' Heh, it still makes me chuckle about how arogant I was back then. Anyway, after about a year and a half of ownership, I lost my job as a computer consultant. This was after September, 11. Job market was very scarce for techies. One night over some brews I decided that the message had changed. The message now was - 'I shouldn't have bought such a f#*king expensive car'. Gotta chuckle again at that one too. Now, as I'm progressing over the hill, the message still encompasses all of those ideas. I would have to say that the tone has mellowed, and the message has evolved to one of quite satisfaction in owning 'The Ultimate Driving Machine'. p.s. I still mutter 'message' in Twin-Cities traffic sometimes... |
